The Brightest Beginning- Akashi Twins one-shot

A/N: Because of my previous headcanon, I felt like this. I had to rewrite it (see earlier post about accidental deleted progress) but I finally finished it with all the energy I have. Now I'm going back to praying to the toilet Gods for my IBS to chill.

"Yoshi-chan, you didn't need to make the class president of 2C cry," Seijuro said as he looked at his younger twin now the school council meeting room was left to the boys alone. "She needed to hear it. The bitch is incompetent." Masayoshi retorted without empathy and Seijuro sighed. Life with his brother was not easy. "You call everyone incompetent." Masayoshi rolled his different colored eyes, "Perhaps because usually, that very much is the case. Many are not born for the professions they covet." Seijuro could not argue with that, like he usually couldn't. His brother was too witty and eternally annoyed to ever lose to an argument whilst Seijuro did not nearly have the level of energy to be argumentative and petty like his brother was. He liked to be the cloud floating above Masayoshi's drama and antics, but reality seemed to refuse to cooperate. So Seijuro just rolled his eyes at his twin and sighed once more. "At least try to refrain from it next time. Once we're old enough to take over father's assets, we cannot be treating our employees this way. We need to show people we are better, which includes our attitude." Seijuro finished packing his things and stood up. Masayoshi gave him a half-hearted nod and stood up too, his own things already having been packed. "She's still an overtly sensitive, pampered little princess." Seijuro grinned, "She is but you don't need to tell her that." At that, Masayoshi chuckled and the twins left, their footsteps in synch as usual. Sometimes Seijuro wondered if this was because they were meant to be one person, that they always fell into perfect rhythm the way they did. He would never forget the day, where they learnt to move out of that rhythm to establish another rhythm that was out of synch but just as perfect.

It had been a sunny day, and Seijuro and Masayoshi had been about five years old. Because they had each aced their test that morning, they had been allowed to play outside for the remaining day. Their mother approached them, her eyes shining with enthusiasm as she held an orange ball in her hands. "Boys, how about we play a new game?" She asked, waving with the ball in her hands. Seijuro and Masayoshi approached her curiously, and Shiori handed Seijuro the ball before ruffling Masayoshi's hair. The boys smiled excitedly at their mother who proceeded to stand up straight. "Now this orange ball is called a basketball. It's a hard, bouncy ball that you're supposed to throw through a hoop. How about we practise your hand-eye coordination with a couple of pass- exercises?" Shiori said, and from her explanation it was clear how she had gotten Masaomi to go along with her plan for the day. The twins nodded and Seijuro decided to throw the ball towards his brother. Masayoshi catched it, stumbling a little backwards but he didn't fall over, the little boy would never do something as disgraceful as falling square on his ass. He aimed it at the ground, a few steps before his brother's feet. After all, if the ball could bounce, then it would bounce up to Seijuro right? The ball obeyed his command, and the elder twin scooped the ball up from the air as it skipped to him. Seijuro grinned at his little brother who already seemed to prepare himself for the ball to return. So Seijuro bounced the ball in Masayoshi's direction and his little brother caught it with ease. "Good one Sei-nii!" Shiori held her hands together, her eyes shimmering with pride, even if the boys were currently mastering basic ball play. She would never get any less excited at seeing them grow. Masayoshi and Seijuro continued to pass to one another that day, even learning how to dribble succesfully, much to their mother's joy. Shiori had not once stopped smiling that day and the twins would never, ever forget the brightness of that day.

It would be hilarious if starscream got a redemption arc in season 2c. Honestly it seems that shows being made faster and released in batches all at once makes fans really impatient and quick to complain about what they "should have" done. If earrhspark had weekly episodes I don't think this problem would be nearly as bad because fans would have time to like, digest episodes one at a time

I didn't see a significant number of people who were furious or despairing because they thought the Chaos Terrans were permanently dead revising their opinion of the series when that was shown to not be the case and they were brought back and had a major role, so I sadly don't think something like this happening would improve most people's opinions of the show. But in terms of something that would be really funny that I kind of want to happen out of spite...? Oh yeah XD

Something I like about Earthspark is that I've never been able to easily predict what things will happen in future episodes beyond broad strokes (like my assumption currently is that the next batches will show Cybertron and the state of the War, but I really have no clue otherwise). When it comes to Starscream, my biggest hope is that we get to see him and Izzy interact or see more parallels between the two of them. I'd like to see more insight into what contributes to the two of them acting against their own interests. I think something important about these characters is that they are complex and do care about other people... but it's not necessarily in the way other people do and they prioritize other things over those bonds even if that's actually self-defeating. Like, Izzy really did not want to kill Robby... but factors in her life were making her feel like she was going to have to. And Starscream could have just chosen to not sour his relationship with the other Decepticons... but something causes power to cloud his judgment.

I haven't thought about what a Starscream redemption story would look like in a long time. Across series, there are a lot of things that usually contribute to Starscream being villainous, some that are harder to address than others. Not being confident in himself, being used to violence and exploitation, having delusions of grandeur, just plain enjoying hurting people, hating boredom, feeling afraid... these are just some things that often contribute to why he's like that. One thing I do want to say is that I can imagine Starscream working on himself and becoming a happier, more self-assured person, with strong bonds... who still has an outlook many people would call immoral and has those bonds with other evil people lol I think a story about Starscream becoming a better person is an interesting idea, but it would probably take a lot of time and focus and series like Earthspark where he's a minor character (where he was only a villain for a relatively small amount of screen time in the first place) may not be the best place for that.

Bonjour tout le monde, oh how beautiful can winter be, this time I actually braved the cold to get this photo it was just too good to miss.

We have had “flocons de neige” , rain, cloud and sunshine but it has also been bitterly cold. Never mind the heating is on and I have been eating better so warm inside and out. I must be feeling better as I have baked, cheese scones, prepared roast dinners, cooked chilli and made a pan of soup.

The weather hasn’t stopped me going to do my shopping although the knitting has been pulling me back to continue with that.

My cleaner came twice this week but is away for the weekend so won’t be with me on Monday. With that in mind I decided to start the jigsaw my friend bought for my birthday. Wow it took me two hours to sort out the edge pieces and try to get those put together. I am sure it will take me until Wednesday to get it all finished so I think it’s a good idea that I have made food, just to be reheated, as the jigsaw will take all my time 😂.

It’s been a mixed emotions week, I was thinking of a friends and family, no longer with us, who would have celebrated birthday’s or who passed away at this time of year. Back to the here and now, it was Anie’s birthday on Friday. I couldn’t get in touch with her so she didn’t get her present until Saturday, fortunately the gerbera I bought on Thursday had remained wonderfully fresh in the car. She invited me for tea and gateau and we had a great time catching up and looking at photos of her holiday in Indonesia. I had made soup so took some for her, along with a couple of mince tarts, coconut slice and stuffed dates. She would like the recipe for the coconut slice so I will send it to her.

Now it’s the music section of the blog and this first record is back to the 1960’s. It’s “Beggin’” by Frankie Valli and The four Seasons, released in 1967. The next song , I would have said is more “up to date”, but as it is actually 23 years old this year I guess it’s still “old” to a lot of people. It is “Whenever, Wherever” by Shakira released in 2001. As someone once wrote “The rhythm of life is a powerful beat, puts a tingle in your fingers and a tingle in your feet”. Let’s hope that’s what these songs do for you each week!

Monique messaged to say she is in hospital, her white blood cell count was very low and she is still in the emergency ward, they will transfer her to haematology on Monday. I am messaging her to keep her spirits up.

“The Photographer” was at Scarborough AFC match on Saturday doing his “voluntary” job. Apparently it was freezing cold and by half time he couldn’t feel his fingers. He did however manage to get some great photos.

“The Trainee Solicitor” has had another busy week (a bit like his mother 😉) plus he had the worst luck in that he had an overflowing toilet (fortunately from the cistern). It’s still a nuisance, I hate leaking water as it can do so much damage! Anyway “Superdad” is hopefully going over today with a new plunger and will fit it, so that the toilet is working again. Another thing he could have done without I am sure!

“The Ex-Graduate” went to take her details to the new job she is due to start around the end of February. She had been out to buy some new work clothes and is looking forward to this new phase of her life. I remember starting my first job, £15 per week, £13 of that into my hand and I thought I was rich! When I left that job nine months later to go to a job that paid £22 (gross) per week I really thought I had arrived 😂.

My grandchildren are with their Mummy this weekend so no “surprise” FaceTime calls.

I haven’t heard from my friends in Bristol and I think once the jigsaw is finished 🙈 I will have to get in touch.

Now it is time for me to have another hot drink and get myself all ready to ………. continue with the jigsaw 😂😂.

It is only 2c here so wherever you are I hope it is warmer than this.

Dick Winters/Lewis Nixon. 525 Words. Fluff.

The clouds had drawn low and close by the time Dick exited his billet. His hosts were lovely English folks, but he still needed his alone time now and again. The main drag of Aldbourne was quietly bustling as the afternoon drew to a close, and Dick let its simplicity envelop him. Neat hedges, flowers by windows, and bright Union Jacks on were every corner of the cookie-cutter town. The Americans had sensed the upset of their arrival at first, but the town gradually grew to acclimate them. And just as things settled, they would have to unsettle them. According to the plans, they were supposed to jump soon - but that was doubtful given the current weather. Everything seemed even and still and quiet, but Dick could tell the rain and wind would arrive soon enough.

Lewis had arrived soon enough as well, bearing his usual grin and charisma. His dark hair had been mussed by his overseas cap, and Dick longed to run his hands through it. And it was more calming than he could say, to be in Lew’s presence. His best friend was like a cool glass of water on a hot summer’s day.

“Something on your mind?” asked Lew, breaking Dick from his reverie. His smooth voice flowed over Dick slow and smooth as molasses. He looked over at his friend, who had a wry smile on his face.

“Maybe, Lew,” said Dick, blushing. The wind picked up for a moment, and Dick tried to calm his nerves.

“Hey,” said Lew, “it’s just me, alright? Just me.” His face was warm and open and so full of affection that Dick could hardly bear it. And just in front of them was an alley between two buildings, shielded from prying eyes and wavering winds.

Dick grabbed the olive drab of Lew’s jump jacket and pulled him into the alley, then pressed his face into his shoulder. Lew’s arms came up to encircle him, with one at his waist and one on his head. They stood for a moment and swayed, breathing deeply.

“We’re all right,” said Lew. He rested his chin on top of Dick’s head, breathing him in. “We’re all right, and we’re gonna stay all right.”

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep,” mumbled Dick, face still buried. He felt Lew sigh against him.

“I don’t like seeing you stressed,” he said. “And me saying things like that might make you less stressed.”

Dick raised his head and sighed. “It’s war, Lew. We’re both going to be stressed.”

“But I’m the cool and collected one.”

“You’re the drunk one.”

“Oh, shut up, Dick,” said Lew with a grin.

“Make me,” Dick replied.

Lew laughed and placed a hand on Dick’s cheek, pulling him in for a kiss. It was sweet and slow, and when they broke apart they were smiling at each other. They let their breathing slow until Lew spoke.

“Did that take away some of the stress?” he asked.

“Some,” Dick said with a knowing smile.

“Well, then I guess I’d better do it again to get rid of the rest.”

“I guess you’d better,” said Dick, leaning in.

I had a really great time at brunch and showing you the farm. And I’m glad you got to meet Dr. Baron and Dr. Sirus. And all my animals. I think Rajah misses his pal, Beaker, though. He seems a bit glum this evening. I must confess that I’m still on Cloud 9… from the kiss. Though I am looking forward to Taco Tuesday. Unless you’d consider seeing me tomorrow? Maybe just some takeout from my parents’ restaurant at your place? LMK." This is followed by a text with a photo of a blue merle Australian Shepherd named Rajah laying on a large plaid doggy bed with his head on his paws, looking up at the camera with big sparkly sad blue eyes. On the right, a close up of Guillermo huffing out a small laugh through his nose as he reads, looking fond. 2b. Repeat. Nandor sends another photo of himself, half in frame, wearing a flannel shirt over a black tee and his hair in a loose braid grinning and holding a strip of bacon out between his teeth. Rajah appears from the other side and excitedly chomps down on the other end of the bacon strip. Nandor writes, "I have determined how to chase his blues away at least temporarily. BACONNNNN!!!!!" On the right, Guillermo's smile grows helplessly, looking more amused and more fond by the moment. 2c. Repeat. Nandor sends another photo, clearly taken moments after the previous one, showing himself snorting with laughter as Rajah licks all over his face. He writes, "How is Beaker doing?" and then "Sorry for all the text messages. I just realized this might be creepy." On the right, Guillermo finally dissolves into laughter, tipping his phone as if to cover his mouth.

3a. A text reply from Guillermo that reads "Not creepy at all. Beaker is settling in well. He seems to like me, air conditioning, and/or movies. He’s nice to cuddle with and talk to. Thank you again. I was also thinking about our kiss. That it was a long time coming and that I’d like you to kiss me more, if you’d like that. Tomorrow, I work until 7PM, but I would love for you to come over for dinner. Persian Delight would be wonderful, but I would like to cook for you at some point, too. 7:30PM tomorrow?" Nandor immediately replies "Sure, it's a date," with a winking kiss emoji. 3b. Close up on Guillermo's eyes shining with excitement above blushing cheeks as Nandor's last text echoes in pink around him. 3c. Full body of Guillermo, sun shining on him from behind as the sun pours through the window, grinning happily as he holds Beaker up to his cheek with one hand and holds his phone out with the other to take a selfie. He says, "I guess as far as signs go, it doesn’t get a lot clearer than that." Beaker mews in reply. /end ID
